The department reported that the fire at 38 Acushnet Ave. began just before 4 p.m. though investigators haven't determined what sparked the blaze. Everyone inside escaped without injury, and firefighters rescued two dogs and a cat from the three-story home, MassLive reported.
Two firefighters were hurt battling the blaze. One was taken to an area hospital for minor wounds while responders treated the other at the scene, the report said.
Fire investigators are still trying to piece together what caused the fire, but initial reports suggest it began on the fire first and quickly spread to the rest of the house.
