2 Springfield Firefighters Hurt, 7 People Displaced After 3-Alarm Fire (Update)

Two Springfield firefighters were injured battling a three-alarm blaze that displaced seven people from a multi-family home in South End on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 30, authorities said.

The department reported that the fire at  38 Acushnet Ave. began just before 4 p.m. though investigators haven't determined what sparked the blaze. Everyone inside escaped without injury, and firefighters rescued two dogs and a cat from the three-story home, MassLive reported

Two firefighters were hurt battling the blaze. One was taken to an area hospital for minor wounds while responders treated the other at the scene, the report said. 

Fire investigators are still trying to piece together what caused the fire, but initial reports suggest it began on the fire first and quickly spread to the rest of the house.
